The Cambridge Rocket Club completed it’s final scheduled launch of the year on October 31, 2026. We were greeted with seasonal mild temperatures, blue sky and lite winds. Ideal conditions to conclude our rocket launch season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We has 20 members and 4 guest show for this launch and they contributed to putting on a great show. We managed to launch multi-stage rockets, cluster rockets, chute release flights, dual deployment flights, camera rockets and scale rockets using engines from A to G. We experienced an abnormally high parachute deployment failure rate, likely caused by the cool temperatures . We also experienced three CATO’s. By the end of the day we managed to launch 94 model rockets, (second highest count the year was 99) and burn 108 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 3,555 Newtons, highest level this season. A great time was had by all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to thank Jeff Mensch, Taras Tataryn and Bill Gee for taking over the Range Officer duties for this launch and allowing me to join in the fun and fly some of my rockets. I managed to fly two Cineorc flights and have some interesting on-board video footage. I’ll publish the videos and some still frames after editing later this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have completed all of our scheduled launches this season and will target April 2027 for our next scheduled launch. As in the past, we will host some short notice mini launches during the break for those eager enough to fly in winter like conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
