On September 12th, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’d 7th launch of the season. We were greeted with warm temperatures, blue skies and calmer than expected winds. We had 14 CRC members and 4 Guests show up for this launch. Two of the guests joined the club, welcome aboard. We note that some of our high power members were at a high power launch in the US this day.
We managed to launch a variety of model rockets including multi stage, cluster, scale, streamer duration chute deployment models. We also managed to give away a donated model rocket. We did unfortunately suffer four CATO flights (B.6-4, 2 x D.12-5, E.12-4,and an F.50-6) and an unusually high number of failed/tangled parachutes. If this were easy, everybody could do it. By the end of the day we launched a total of 52 model rockets and burned 57 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 1,730 Newtons.
Fun was had by all. We are winding down our scheduled launch season with only two launches left, October 3rd and October 31st. Hope to see many of you on October 3rd, a day I plan to take off. More later.
