July 3, 2021 – Start of Summer Launch

July 6, 2021July 6, 2021 admin

On Saturday July 3, 2021, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s fourth launch of the challenging 2021 season. This launch was originally scheduled for June 27 but had to be postponed due to poor weather. The weather on July 3rd started with cloudy skies, clearing by noon. The winds were moderate at 10 – 20 KPH and the temperature got as high as 25 degrees. We were once again confined to a 10-person outdoor limit and scheduled the day in three 2-hour launch windows starting at 9:00 in the morning. We welcomed back a CRC family that took 2020 off as well as 2 prospective new members. The theme for the launch was “Multi-stage” rockets and we did manage to fly 18 in total including 2- stage, a 3-stage and a 2-stage cluster rocket. Our launches also included scale models, sport models and a boost glider. By the end of the day, we managed to burn 65 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 1,355 Neutons.

We had a very high success rate with our launches a good fun was had by all. Hopefully we will soon be able to expand our outdoor gathering limits to 25 people and beyond and return to “normal” Cambridge Rocket Club launches.
